NGCP 2022 Collaboration Institute and 20th Anniversary Party

Join the National Girls Collaborative Project community in Pittsburgh for collaboration and celebration! We are coming together on September 10 and September 11 for a Collaboration Institute that provides state Leadership Team members with tools and resources to serve programs in their state.

REGISTRATION

Q. Who should attend?
NGCP Collaborative Leadership Team Members, others working with girls in STEM broadly, and educators interested in learning more about how to use the NGCP model in their own work. New Collaboratives should plan to send a minimum of two leadership team members (one member of each team must be the Collaborative Lead). The registration fee is $50.00 USD. All attendees are responsible for their own travel and hotel costs.

Q. How do I register?
Register for the Collaboration Institute online by clicking the Register button at the bottom of the page.

Q. Does NGCP offer any travel scholarships/assistance for the Collaboration Institute?
NGCP has limited funds for travel assistance. Participants may submit a request for funding using the NGCP Travel Scholarship Application. Application deadline is August 5, 2022. Travel scholarship award notices will be distributed no later than August 9, 2022.

Q. What is the registration deadline?
5:00 PM Pacific on September 2, 2022.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
Attendees should notify their Collaborative Lead and the NGCP National Team immediately of any change in plans. Registration fees are non-refundable. Registration is transferrable to another participant. Deadline to transfer registration to another participant is August 31, 2022.

 

TRAVEL/HOTEL

Q. What is the closest airport?
Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

Q. Will my expenses be reimbursed?
No, participants will be responsible for their own travel and hotel expenses. The following meals will be provided by the National Girls Collaborative:

  • Saturday 9/10/22 Light snack (prior to 3:00 PM start time)and Dinner
  • Sunday 9/11/22 Light mid-morning snack and Lunch

Q. Who do I call if I have issues while in route?
If you encounter significant travel delays or other issues you feel we should be aware of please contact Kathy Thomas at (206)226-4287or Karen Peterson at(206) 914-9441.

Q. What time zone is Pittsburg in?
Eastern time zone.

Q. How do I make a reservation at the hotel?
We strongly encourage you to book your hotel as part of the ASTC 2022 Annual Conference room block. ASTC has contracts with several hotels within close proximity to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where most activities will be held, offering special discounted rates to conference attendees. Please see the hotel information page for details about conference hotels and to book your stay.

Q. Will Wi-Fi be available?
Yes, complimentary wireless Internet access will be available.

Q. Can I bring my spouse or a guest?
Yes. Your guest will need to make their own plans during the scheduled events. If you are bringing a guest, please notify the hotel and note you will be responsible for any additional fees applied to guests sharing your room.

Q. I'd like to arrange a carpool. Would NGCP help with that?
Yes. We created a Transportation - Carpool Connections Google Doc to help you connect with others at the Institute for carpools to/from the airport, hotels, convention center, and party. Participants will be in charge of coordinating their own carpools and transportation.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Q. What COVID precautions will be in place?
NGCP cares deeply about the health and safety of all Collaboration Institute participants and is closely monitoring the latest guidance from local, state, federal, and international public health authorities.

We anticipate that the health and safety protocols at the Collaboration Institute will include a requirement for all attendees, guests, volunteers, and vendors to be fully vaccinated (as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the time of the Institute) subject to approved medical or religious exemptions, so we urge you to plan accordingly. Attendees at the Collaboration Institute are always welcome to wear a mask; NGCP may require masking in certain situations depending on local guidance and conditions at the time of the Collaboration Institute.

Q. What will the Collaboration Institute cover?
Workshops and activities are focused on NGCP delivery structure and exemplary practices. The Institute provides an opportunity for new Collaborative Leadership Teams to plan and to meet with existing Collaborative Teams to share strategies and lessons learned in Collaborative efforts and activities.

Q. What will the weather be like?
September is moderately warm in Pittsburgh, PA. Average temperatures in Pittsburgh for the month of September:
Highs – 76° Fahrenheit
Lows - 56° Fahrenheit

Q. What should I wear?
The recommended dress during the conference is business casual. Meeting rooms tend to be on the chilly side, so you may want to bring layers.

Q. Will this be a fragrance-free event?
Yes this will be a fragrance-free event. Please help us accommodate our participants who are chemically sensitive to fragrances and other scented products. We request that participants refrain from wearing perfume, aftershave, scented hand lotion, fragranced hair products, and or similar products. Instead, we recommend using unscented personal care products in order to promote a fragrance-free environment.

Q. Should I bring business cards?
Definitely, business cards are a great way to keep in touch with the other NGCP Collaboration Institute participants and presenters after the Institute. There are many websites available on which you can create your own business cards if they are notprovided by your organization.

Q. Should I bring resource materials?
We encourage you to bring resource materials to share information about your programs and organizations. We will have a resource table available so be sure to bring them with you.

Q. How many people will be at the Collaboration Institute?
We are expecting approximately40-50 participants to attend.

Institute activities will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Institute activities will end no later than 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Please plan your travel arrangements accordingly.

A public agenda is available.

Q. What food/meals are included in the conference and what options will be available?
The following meals will be provided by the National Girls Collaborative Project:

Training Locations
The Collaboration Institute will take place in Pittsburgh, PA at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Rooms 304-305 - 1000 Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15222. This is also where most ASTC Conference activities will be held.

This Resource section will include the digital program, attendee list, guiding PowerPoints, handouts, and other resources presented at the Collaboration Institute.

Collaboration Institute Digital Program
The 2022 Collaboration Institute Digital Program is a paperless document that allows us to reduce our carbon footprint and save money. It is a digital alternative to a Program Guide and showcases available paperless technology. The program will contain the following content:
