Incorporating youth voice into programming and organizations is a research-based practice that impacts youth in multiple positive ways. Youth voice is the means through which young people become actors in their own learning, participate in the decisions that affect them, and become active citizens. (Zeldin, Gurtner, & Chapa, 2018)

The Meet the NGCP Youth Advisory Board! webinar was hosted by NGCP on February 1, 2022. In this webinar recording, YAB members explain how they support NGCP and answer questions about their experiences and involvement.

Christine A, YAB Member

Christine A.

Hi! My name is Christine A., and I’m a high school senior from Georgia. As a part of my school’s Girls Who Code Club and as a creative director for Reinvented Magazine, I love spreading STEM to other girls. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in computer science or engineering!

Divya S, YAB member

Divya S.

Hi! I'm Divya, a senior in high school from Northern VA. I am an advocate for gender equality in STEM, and work with local and national programs to bring awareness, create resources, and develop programs. To address this issue and promote interest, I started a club which works with elementary school kids, conducts workshops, and is collaborating with companies such as Northrop Grumman on projects to create more awareness. Additionally, the club has advocated for bills supporting this cause by informing senators and policy makers at Capitol Hill. I am also interested in the intersection between STEM, specifically computer science, and business, to create solutions for social issues.

Lindsey H, YAB Member

Lindsey H.

I’m Lindsey H. from Wisconsin. I’ve always liked STEM, specifically engineering. Recently, I’ve been really interested in quantum physics and nanotechnology, and I hope to pursue these interests in college and as a career. I absolutely love encouraging girls in STEM on a larger scale, but I love working locally like at my school’s STEM girls club!

Megan M, YAB Member

Megan M.

I'm Megan M. from Northern Virginia. I am mainly interested in computer science and hope to pursue this passion in college. Since I was little, I have always been involved with STEM in school and through extracurricular activities. My goal is to empower young women to explore STEM in a less daunting way by providing valuable learning opportunities!
