The National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) conducted a survey in mid-2025 to understand how recent shifts in funding and policy are affecting organizations focused on equity in STEM education. Respondents came from a wide range of sectors—K–12 schools, nonprofits, higher education, and museums—with nearly all of them working directly with youth and prioritizing equity. While about half of the organizations feel secure in continuing their work, a significant portion (41%) expressed concerns about their future due to unstable funding and changing diversity-related policies.
These changes are having real consequences: many programs have lost funding, which has led to reduced services, staff layoffs, and limited capacity to serve youth. Despite these setbacks, organizations remain committed to their mission. NGCP is encouraging collaboration and offering support through resources, webinars, and networking opportunities. The message is clear—continued support and partnership are essential to keep STEM equity efforts moving forward.
