Welcome Anonymous

The IF/THEN® Champions Network is offering grants to teams of museum-library partners to develop collaborative projects that integrate IF/THEN® resources into library content and programming. The Champions Network supports science centers and museums in connecting audiences with inspiring STEM role models and creating experiences that encourage young people to see themselves in STEM.

Museum–library partnerships create a powerful bridge between science centers and local community hubs, expanding the visibility of the IF/THEN® Collection to individuals and families who may not regularly visit a museum. Libraries serve broad, diverse audiences and are eager for high-quality STEM resources, making them strong partners for expanding access to IF/THEN® stories. This partnership expands museums’ existing community relationships while thoughtfully exploring how IF/THEN® resources can be adapted for library audiences.

The Champions Network will award grants to eight teams of museum-library partners to implement collaborative projects that integrate IF/THEN® resources into library content and programming. Grantees will participate in a seven-month cohort from February-August 2027 that will include structured touchpoints (kickoff, midpoint, and final virtual sessions) to share progress, collaborate, and learn strategies for designing and implementing programs and events using IF/THEN® resources.

Following completion of the cohort program, there will be a project showcase webinar in October 2027 to share results with the full Champions Network, and final products such as curricula, flyers, program guides, exhibits, and social media guidance will be adapted and added to the IF/THEN® Project Library. The Network project team will support museum-library teams in adapting project materials to ensure final products added to the project library are widely accessible and useful to a wide range of Champions Network members. Select teams of museum-library partners may have the opportunity to present at the ASTC Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts (November 10-13, 2027).

Together, these partnerships will support meaningful local collaborations while generating adaptable resources that extend the impact of this work across the Network.

The joint application for teams of museum-library partners is due January 15, 2027, at 5 PM Pacific Time. Applicants will be notified by Friday, January 29, 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Project should include two components: (1) a public-facing display of IF/THEN® assets at the library, and (2) programs, activities, and/or events that engage audiences with IF/THEN® and introduce them to IF/THEN® Ambassadors.

Examples of public-facing display ideas might include:

  • A monitor at the library displaying rotating videos of IF/THEN® Ambassadors talking about their STEM careers.
  • Posters or banners featuring IF/THEN® Ambassador profiles, printed from the IF/THEN® Project Library and displayed in a public area for all library visitors to view.
  • A themed book display at the library featuring books about engineers alongside profiles of IF/THEN® Ambassadors who work in engineering.

Examples of program, activity, and event ideas might include:

  • A family STEM night at the library featuring hands-on activities inspired by IF/THEN® Ambassadors.
  • A storytime or summer reading program paired with STEM activities and Ambassador stories.
  • A free workshop for library visitors where youth explore an Ambassador’s work and create a related project.
  • Pop-up STEM activities at library branches or community events to reach families who may not typically visit a museum.

These are just a few possibilities. We encourage partners to build on their existing strengths, community relationships, and knowledge of their audiences.

Funding should be distributed equitably based on each partner’s roles, responsibilities, and project costs. You should take into account any limitations your partner has to receive funds and explain them in your application. We anticipate that grant funds will be paid to the museum partner, and the museum partner should plan to distribute the library partner’s share directly. If the museum is unable to distribute funds to the library partner, reach out to IfThen@astc.org to discuss alternatives.
