On Monday, August 17, 2026, members of the Citizens Enterprise Technology & Security (ET&S) team, industry partners, vendors, and golf enthusiasts from across the country gathered at TPC Boston for a charity golf scramble in support of the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP). This is the second year Citizens has hosted the event, building on its continued dedication to NGCP's mission of encouraging, supporting, and empowering young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Addressing the crowd before tee-off, Brendan Goode, Chief Security Officer at Citizens, highlighted how central community giving is to the culture at Citizens:
"Citizens Bank has a philanthropy space that is incredible—it's one of the things that actually attracted me to this job in particular...It makes such a great opportunity to have a day with our colleagues, our vendors, people we work with day in and day out, to go somewhere, network, have a good time, but also raise money for great causes."
For Brendan, a dad of little girls, NGCP’s mission resonates personally:
"As a dad of little girls... it was very meaningful for me to really support that demographic of science, tech, and engineering, and girls, and helping them to develop in communities that may not have the same opportunities."
Beyond the 18 holes of play, attendees participated in a variety of fundraising activities throughout the day, including a wine tasting, a silent auction, a corn hole tournament, and more. Thanks to the generosity of the players, sponsors, and organizers, the event raised $145,000 for NGCP. These funds directly power NGCP’s national initiatives, transformative resources, and collaborative networks designed to inspire the next generation of women innovators. Reflecting on the real-world impact of these contributions, Brendan noted how meaningful the proceeds are to driving positive change:
“Last year's fundraising, the things that we were able to do with the money, really just blew me away. It was a bit emotional just seeing what we were able to provide as opportunities for people."
The informal aspect of the golf scramble event offered a unique opportunity for participants to connect directly with NGCP’s mission. Representatives from NGCP’s national team joined golfers on the course and throughout the day’s activities to connect one on one and share stories of impact.
Inside the clubhouse, representatives from NGCP’s New England Collaborative facilitated hands-on STEM activities and collaborated with Somerville Media Center (SMC) to set up a podcasting booth for interviewing golfers and volunteers about their personal connections to NGCP’s cause and to showcase how community support drives real-world change.
Reflecting on her time at the golf scramble, Nia K., a high-school aged member of NGCP’s Youth Advisory Board, shared:
“It was an incredible experience to meet so many talented, generous people who are genuinely committed to making a difference...I left the event feeling incredibly grateful and honored to have been part of it."
