Thank you for your interest in the free SciGirls Professional Development Training being hosted and held at the St. Louis Zoo.

SciGirls is a PBS Kids television series out to change how millions of tweens think about science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM! In each episode, join bright, curious real girls in putting STEM to work. Then check out the website to play games, watch episodes, share projects, and connect with other SciGirls in a totally safe social networking environment!

Participants are invited to attend this free full-day professional development opportunity and discover how to engage young women (ages 8-13) through inquiry-based STEM instruction with a commitment to gender equity. Participants attending SciGirls Trainings will learn the latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM; experience hands-on STEM activities; and gain access to free materials for hands-on, video-enhanced activities that put a creative twist on teaching STEM.

All SciGirls activities and matching videos are aligned to national education standards including: Standards for Technological Literacy, Next Generation Science Standards and the Common Core standards for Mathematics.

The workshop will be facilitated by Lou Papai, SciGirls Regional Trainer and Leadership Team Member for the Louisiana STEM Girls Collaborative Project.

Note: If you are a person with a disability and need an accommodation to participate in this program, please call Chris Blair at 314-646-4545 to discuss your needs. Receiving requests for accommodations at least 10 days before the program provides a reasonable amount of time to meet the request, however all requests will be considered.

A map is available for download under “Additional Materials”. Additional information and workshop documents will be uploaded or sent to you as the workshop date approaches. Lunch will not be provided at this training, but participants will be given adequate time for a lunch at nearby restaurants.

Click the “Sign Up” button below to register. Registration closes 4 days before the training date (August 20th). You may download the SciGirls FAQ's before the workshop to help with answers to many general questions.
