The National Girls Collaborative Project  and the North Carolina STEM Collaborative will be offering a training to educators to participate in the Smithsonian Latino Virtual Museum (LVM) Transmedia Project.  The Levine Museum of the New South will host this training at the ImaginON.

The LVM is a Transmedia hub for 2D and 3D collections, online games, simulations, and virtual worlds and programs in real-time. The resources highlight the Smithsonian art and science collections as they relate to Latinos.  The LVM developed an Educator Toolkit to support educators with integrating this robust collection of transmedia and virtual exhibits into their existing STEM +Arts programs.

The toolkit includes six bilingual modules that explore three themes:

  • American Experience
  • Sustaining a Bio Diverse Planet
  • World Cultures

The Training at ImaginON will include:

  • In-depth review of LVM Educator Toolkit and overview of the six modules and interactive tools available
  • Step by Step Training of the Day of the Dead module
  • Step by Step Training of the Cerámica de los Ancestros: Central America’s Past Revealed. Interpreting Culture through Ceramics module

  • Implement at least one LVM module into classroom or program curriculum in Summer 2016 and/or Fall 2016 that has Latino students
