Saturday, January 17,2015, Project Scientist (PS) will host a professional development workshop for all 2015 PS Teaching Fellow applicants, Camp counselors, Club facilitators, and 2015 PS Academy staff, which will serve to impact teacher practice across the Charlotte-Mecklenburg district area in the year 2015. Event attendee’s include 30 Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) teachers, local women scientist, CMS leadership, and Project Scientist Academy girls.

Facilitated by SciGirls, one of Project Scientist’s esteemed partners, this training program will equip teachers with the latest research-proven methods for providing gender equitable opportunities in education. Teachers will have an opportunity to experience integrated inquiry-based science instruction while conducting hands-on STEM activities with PS alumni students. With a SciGirls certificate and access to new educational resources sponsored by SciGirls, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and Project Scientist, teachers will leave this training inspired and confident in their ability to deliver hands-on, educational activities that put a creative twist on teaching STEM.
