Calling all organizations, schools and individuals involved in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) outreach and recruitment in and around Woodburn!  We invite you to participate in a hands-on, minds-on Professional Development Training hosted by the Oregon Girls Collaborative Project and OregonASK. We welcome you to practice proven strategies for engaging girls in STEM while lighting up a room with dough creatures, designing your own deep sea diver, and much more!

SciGirls, a PBS KIDS weekly series and web site, is out to change how millions of tween girls think about STEM. Educators attending the SciGirls professional development training will:

  • Learn the latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM
  • Experience hands-on STEM activities
  • Leave with curriculum that puts a creative twist on teaching STEM
  • Learn how to modify activities to engage kids in STEM using the SciGirls Seven
  • Discover additional online resources that enhance teaching and learning experiences for all kids

The activities and resources engage both girls AND boys in STEM. There is a $45 registration fee per person to attend this training, which includes meals and snacks. Participants attending agree to offer one SciGirls program or event (minimum of 1 hour) for girls, ages 8-13, using the associated activities within one year of the professional development.

Space is limited to 30 participants only!
