Local educators are invited to participate in a hands-on, minds-on professional development training hosted by the spectrUM Discovery Area and Girl Scouts of Montana & Wyoming.  We welcome you to practice proven strategies for engaging more girls in STEM while building a neutrally buoyant diver, lighting up a room with dough creatures, and much more!

Montana educators can earn 6 OPI renewal units for participating in this training!

SciGirls is an Emmy-award winning PBS Kids television series, website, and teaching methodology dedicated to changing the way millions of girls (and boys) think about STEM.  Techbridge inspires girls to discover a passion for technology, science and engineering.  Through hands-on learning, Techbridge empowers the next generation of innovators and leaders.

Participants attending this workshop will:
- Learn the latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM
- Experience hands-on STEM activities
- Leave with curriculum that puts a creative twist on teaching STEM
- Learn how to modify activities to engage kids in STEM using the "SciGirls Seven"
- Discover additional online resources that enhance teaching and learning experiences for all kids.
- Learn how to engage STEM role models in effective ways.

Participants will receive the seven SciGirls activity guides and their accompanying DVDs!

About the Techbridge Role Models Matter Training

Hands-on projects can spark an interest in science, technology, or engineering. But on their own they may not lead to a career interest in these fields. Role models are the best ambassadors for communicating information about the wide range of careers that are available.  Role models play a critical role in creating opportunities for girls to envision a career in STEM.  The Techbridge Role Models Matter Workshop is an opportunity to prepare you to effectively engage with girls to explore STEM professions.  During the training Techbridge will model a role model event and introduce key strategies to making a meaningful connection with girls around STEM careers. You will also walk away with additional resource materials to support your work as a role model at outreach events.
