The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Business Education Partnership in partnership with the Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative invites female students, parents, businesses, and community members to participate in a regional forum to educate, encourage, and present STEM disciplines to young girls and provide hands on activites in engineering and technology.

Two sessions will be presented, each 55 minutes long.

Session A – Engineering Robotic Solutions
In this session, you will learn about how robots are programmed to perform specific tasks.  Each student will actually program a small robot during this session and learn how to control its movements.

Session B – Alternative Energy and Mechatronics
There is a tremendous demand for renewable energy sources that do not rely on traditional fossil fuels (petroleum or coal) that are extracted from the earth.  These alternative energy sources, such as solar or wind power, are readily available but require specialized equipment to harness that energy into a form suitable for our normal daily uses.  Students will see demonstrated some small scale equipment by which solar and wind energy can be captured.  In addition, as electronics control more of our mechanical devices, a new area called Mechatronics has developed which combines mechanical systems and electronic control systems.  Students will see demonstrated several examples of commonly used mechatronic systems.
