Program managers, guidance counselors, business partners, technical professionals, teachers and representatives from professional organizations and higher education are invited to join us at a social gathering and informational meeting about the implementation of the Great Plains Girls Collaborative Project, which serves North and South Dakota as well as parts of Minnesota. This initiative will provide mini-grants, professional development, and other free resources to project participants to help increase the participation of girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Join us to learn more about the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) model, how this initiative can help your program or organization, and to network with colleagues to identify collaboration opportunities. This event is a collaboration between the North Dakota Science Teachers Association, the Great Plains Girls Collaborative and the Gateway to Science Center. Registration is free, space is limited.

As a follow up to this event, the Great Plains Girls Collaborative will be hosting two sessions during the North Dakota Science Teachers Association conference:

No more sleeping in class!  Strategies for Engaging Underrepresented Youth in STEM

Do your students have that glazed look in their eyes?  Do they ever nod off during your lecture?  This Great Plains Girls Collaborative session focuses on how to engage even the toughest students in your class.  Using techniques from the SciGirls Seven, we will investigate different classroom strategies through experimenting with a hands-on activity!

Evaluation….a piece of cookie?

Do you ever wonder just how effective your programs or lessons really are? Are they really making an impact on your students?  This Great Plains Girls Collaborative session will introduce you to the field of evaluation and how to get started thinking about effectively evaluating a project or program.   This session will be interactive, collaborative, and just plain sweet!
