Engaging Youth in STEM with SciGirls! A PNWGCP Forum
Join us at the Museum of Flight on Saturday April 25, 2015 for a full-day (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific) professional development forum hosted by the Pacific Northwest Girls Collaborative Project (PNWGCP) focused on integrating inquiry-based STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) instruction with a commitment to gender equity.
SciGirls is an Emmy-award winning PBS KIDS television series and website dedicated to changing the way millions of girls ages 8 - 13 think about STEM.
Participants will learn the latest research for exciting and engaging girls (and boys) in STEM; experience hands-on STEM activities; and gain access to free materials for hands-on, video-enhanced activities that put a creative twist on teaching STEM.
Everyone benefits from a gender-equitable approach to STEM and is welcome to register for this event.
Additional events during the day will include:
- A special showcase with local middle school girls participating in the AIAA Electric Airplane Challenge
- Opportunities for networking and resource sharing
- A launch of the PNWGCP’s participation in the nationwide Million Women Mentors initiative
Registration Fee ($20) includes the cost of lunch, materials and entry into the Museum.
The Museum will be open until 5:00 PM on 4/25. Free parking is available.
Please Note: This event is not intended for youth, but is a professional development forum for practitioners.
