Introducing Louise's Angels

Providing Engineering Opportunities for Inner-City Females
November 2010

Louise's Angels, Inc. is a non-profit organization based out of Washington, D.C. with a mission to increase awareness among inner-city high school females about the opportunities that are available within the field of engineering, to encourage them to attend an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program, and to pursue a career in engineering.

Since September 2009, Louise’s Angels has held enrichment sessions about the field of engineering, attended the PARTIOTS Video Game Conference, and attended the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) National Convention in Toronto, Canada. Louise’s Angels also received first place honors at the PATRIOTS 2nd Annual Renewable Energy Design Competition.

Louise’s Angels attended the NGCP Collaboration Conference in October 2010 and was moved while listening to local girls during the Girl’s Perspective Panel. One panelist has already contacted the organization to get involved in the exciting activities offered. Louise’s Angels believes it can make a dramatic difference in the career paths of inner city females and is currently recruiting girl members to join their ranks. To find out more about getting involved, contact them by e-mail or visit their Web site.
