Tom Baker

Dr. Thomas R. Baker is an education manager, directing STEM initiatives and educational technology integration strategies at Esri, Inc (Industry Solutions). Tom works across formal and informal education to promote and expand geospatial and critical thinking in STEM by levering Esri’s Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies (http://www.esri.com/education).

Tom is also an Adjunct Researcher in the Center for Science Education at the University of Kansas. His current research interests include the use of geospatial tools and thinking to enhance student outcomes and teacher professional development evaluation. Specifically, he has a growing interest in advancing spatial abilities training to increase STEM education and early career success for all students.

Prior to his work at Esri, Dr. Baker was a member of the research faculty in the Center for Research on Learning at the University of Kansas where he directed federally funded grants focused on online collaborative science for students and geospatial technology professional development for teachers.
