| Project Goals |
| Iota Sigma Pi proposed the project to stimulate interest of young girls in science by providing an opportunity to earn a Girl Scout badge in a half day. The first goal is for the girls to learn from badge activities, both specific principles of science and the scientific method.
The second goal is to provide an opportunity for these young girls to meet successful women scientists as role models. Chlorine Chapter members are chemists who come from industrial and academic jobs, as well as university students of chemistry and related fields. Sharing lunch together informally, as well as interacting through the shared badge activities, will show to the young girls the scientific competence and the generous community spirit of the Iota Sigma Pi members.
The third goal will be that the gift of the Iota Sigma Pi t-shirts will provide a long lasting reminder to the Girl Scouts and their friends of their positive experience with a group of professional women chemists.
The project will fulfill goals of Iota Sigma Pi, the Girl Scouts, and the National Girls Collaborative Project. |
