Million Women Mentors

MWM Partner LogoMillion Women Mentors (MWM) is an engagement campaign and national call to action that mobilizes corporations, government entities, non-profit and higher education groups, around the imperative of mentoring girls and young women in STEM fields.

The National Girls Collaborative Project is a Founding Partner of the MWM Initiative. As a part of this partnership, in the summer of 2014 twelve NGCP Collaboratives committed state pledges, as part of a national Mentor Fireworks Campaign, which resulted in 110,000 new Million Women Mentors pledges from 22 states (Alaska, California, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia).

The participating NGCP Collaboratives, our national network of FabFems, and the NGCP National Team will be digging deep into our networks in the coming months to encourage women across the United States to step up, join Million Women Mentors, and get out there to impact girls in our communities!

smiling girlsEach Collaborative has an extensive local network of organizations and individuals that vary in focus and populations served, and includes higher education institutions, community-based organizations, and private non-profits. Through this vast network the participating NGCP Collaboratives are supporting all five pathways for mentoring outlined via Million Women Mentors: face to face, online, internships, workplace mentoring, and sponsorships. Collaborative team members are committed to maximizing access to shared resources, and one of the most important untapped resources are the million women STEM mentors that we know are there in our communities.
