Event Description
This webcast is a follow-up event to our November 2007 webcast. Suzanne Reynolds-Alpert of the ITEST Learning Resource Center will review research about working effectively with girls in STEM. Jason Sayres, a Curriculum and Professional Development Specialist, will describe the Build IT Project, then discuss how girls differ from boys in their approach to project activities, and how this knowledge can be used to engage girls. Wendy Green, a technology teacher from New Jersey, will then share her experiences leading girls in technology-driven coursework. She will share her insights on the role that educators play in making STEM activities “doable” for girls. Savita Raj is Director of Funding Initiatives and STEM Programs with the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. She will discuss various initiatives that have proven popular and successful with girls—many of which are replicable.
