| Program Description | |||
| "Where is the Software?" is a video podcast produced by the Women in Computer Science organization at Shippensburg University. The goal is to connect computer science to current topics to show girls its relevance. The female computer science students in our program select topics like zip code bar codes and genetic algorithms and present them in a way that is accessible to a non-technical audience and shows the creativity required of computer scientists. We have also built a website around these podcasts (http://webspace.ship.edu/wics) that provides listeners with the ability to ask questions about the podcasts, suggest topics for the podcasts, and interact with our students and other listeners. We hope this website will create a community that encourages girls to explore computer science topics. | |||
