About CryptoClub
The CryptoClub Project, developed with NSF funding, develops classroom and web based materials to teach cryptography and related mathematics to middle-grade students in informal settings.

This nationally field-tested afterschool program lasts 16-20 sessions and includes games, treasure hunts, and other informal activities to engage students in cryptography and mathematics. Topics include: decimals, percent, division with remainder, common factors, negative numbers, and pattern recognition.

Who should attend?
Whether you are a formal or informal educator, this workshop will provide training and educational resources you can use to engage youth in 6th – 10th grade in high-quality, engaging math and cryptography activities.

What are the requirements?

  • Participate in a 1-day professional development experience (9am – 3pm)
  • Implement 10-15 hours of mathematics and cryptography with least 10 youth
  • Participate in the educator- and youth-level surveys

What will I receive? 

  • 12 hours of training on high-quality, engaging activities
  • Clock Hours Certificate for 12 hours
  • Club Leader Manual with 16-20 hours of club instruction
  • Cipher (student) Handbook
