Equity and Inclusion in Action: Using a Transformative Framework

Developed in collaboration between the National Girls Collaborative Project and STEM Next Opportunity Fund, the Equity and Inclusion Framework serves as a guide to support STEM programs’ efforts to broaden participation and enhance equity and inclusion in their programming. This session will introduce the concept of a framework and, more specifically, describes the Equity and Inclusion Framework and how educators can apply it to their work. Presenters will share real examples of STEM programs that put strategies and tactics from the Framework into action and have increased their capacity to reach and serve youth from diverse backgrounds. Participants will work in small groups to identify strategies and tactics from the Framework that are relevant for their programs and practice, and provide support to each other. The session will introduce four engaging activities educators can take back to their programs.
